Welcome to the Hardt Foundation

The Hardt Foundation for the Study of Classical Antiquity is a research centre specializing in the fields of Ancient Greek, Latin, Ancient History and Philosophy.
From February to December, the Foundation welcomes researchers wishing to pursue their studies, to its estate in Vandœuvres near Geneva. Facilities include a specialized library of almost 40,000 volumes in a unique setting with unparalleled conditions for study and research. Its access is made available by way of a modest financial contribution, and scholarships for researchers up to the age of 35 may be obtained.
Furthermore, the Foundation annually organizes its “Entretiens sur l’Antiquité classique”, devoted to a variety of themes, with subsequent publication of the proceedings the following year. 56 volumes have been published to date, nearly all of them are still available. |

Pascal Couchepin elected President of the Hardt Foundation |
|
During its annual meeting held on October 24, 2009, the Board of Trustees elected Mr. Pascal Couchepin President of the Foundation. Mr. Couchepin was twice President of the Swiss Confederation, and elected Federal Counsellor until October 30, 2009. The new President took office on January 1st, 2010 and Mr. Pierre Ducrey, former President, was elected Director of the Foundation. |

Scholarships
|
In pursuit of its ambition to promote the study of culture and civilization of Greco-Roman antiquity, the Hardt Foundation offers young researchers (on request) the possibility to apply for research awards financing the cost of their stay at the Estate.

Research Scholarships
The programme of Research Scholarships is financed thanks to the support of the Fondation Hans Wilsdorf (Geneva), the Fondation Saint Charles (Vaduz) and other sponsors.
For the current year no more scholarships are available. Shortly, you will find herewith the new procedures for the said applications for 2011. |
