The Entretiens

The Entretiens sur l’Antiquité classique.

“Each year, at the Foundation’s home in Vandœuvres, the ‘Entretiens sur l’Antiquité classique’ will be held, during which specialists from all over the world will speak about a chosen field, and in the course of further discussions will engage in enriching exchange of views.”

These were Baron Kurd von Hardt’s own words in the introduction to the first volume of the Entretiens, published in 1954 under the title La notion du divin depuis Homère jusqu’à Platon.

Since 1952, more than 70 Entretiens have taken place on a variety of topics. The volumes of the proceedings and following discussions of the Entretiens offer an overview of classical culture as approached by over 500 scholars.

Researchers interested in organizing future Entretiens are invited to send the Scientific Commitee a complete proposal according to the submission procedure.
