Baron Kurd von Hardt (1889-1958)

Title bestowed on Richard Hardt, grandfather of Kurd, descendant of a dynasty of textile producers. The family receives the barony of Wonsowo, named after its estate in East Prussia (present-day Poland).

Birth of Kurd von Hardt in Cassel (Germany), son of Friedrich Wilhelm and Anna Elisabeth, née Mumm von Schwarzenstein, from Frankfurt, 5th child of the couple, who will have 6.

1911-1913   
Travels in South America

1914-1915  
Hospitalised in a clinic in Davos to treat his tuberculosis.

1915-1918
German diplomatic service. His tuberculosis recurs.

1919-1938
Settles in Tuscany (Italy) and Ticino (Switzerland). First plans about the creation of a foundation supporting artists.

1938-1948
Resides in Ticino.

1948 
Rents the Chandoleine, des Gouttes estate, in Vandœuvres.

1949 
Creates the Hardt Foundation.

1950 
Purchases the Chandoleine.

1958  
Death of Baron. By special authorisation, he is buried in the park of the Foundation.
